A barn extension at a private residence in Rutland

JB carried out extension and alteration works to the main barn at a private residence in Rutland. The project included raising the existing walls and gables to accommodate a one-metre increase in roof height, fitting structural steels and creating new openings.

Reclaimed stone and stone quoins were used to blend the extension and altered masonry with the original building. Careful detailing around the openings, corners and connections between old and new stonework brought the work together while retaining the barn’s character.
